Position Description:

Northeastern Junior College is seeking applications for a Diesel Technology Program Instructor.  This is a second faculty position in the Diesel Technology program.  Primary responsibilities will include developing curriculum and teaching a wide range of diesel and ag maintenance courses.  In addition, the individual must be able to develop respect and rapport with dealers, repair shop owners, and technicians in the state.  Additional responsibilities are those generally expected of full-time faculty, including committee assignments and advising students.

Required Qualifications: 

·         Associates degree in Diesel Technology or related field;

·         Demonstrated knowledge and skills in diesel systems and repair;

·         Minimum of three years of actual work experience in the diesel service/repair industry;

·         Knowledge and experience with computer technology as it relates to diesel service/repair;

·         Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings;

·         Must be able to qualify for a Colorado Career & Technical Credential – (Must be able to document 4,000 – 6,000 hours of paid work experience in the diesel industry.  The number of hours depends on the amount of formal education).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         ASE Diesel certification

·         Demonstrated knowledge in welding, general ag mechanics skills, and small gas engine repair;

·         Bachelors degree in a related field;

·         Prior teaching experience at either the high school or college level.


Contract specifics:

This is a full-time continuing faculty appointment for 162 days.  Position begins August 15, 2008.  Salary range is $31.450 - $36,200 commensurate with education and experience.  Competitive fringe benefit package available through the SBCCOE.

Interviewed candidates will be required to prepare and deliver a sample classroom learning experience before the selection committee.  This should be approximately 30 minutes in length.  A topic will be given to candidates at the time the interview is scheduled.
